Thirty years ago, Dr. McLean’s mother, Elizabeth, had a devastating fall. At 74 years old, this fall cost her dearly, having to amputate below her left knee. Her amputation was tragic as she had spent her life independent and on her own. Even with the loss of her leg she quickly grew to persevere through her newly found challenges and got back on her feet. Her biggest challenge was driving and parking as her prosthetic was uncomfortable to move around in and a wheelchair was a struggle to move on her own. Dr. McLean helped her in applying for a handicap permit and saw the need for others who could benefit from handicap permits. He wanted to help systemize a better application process for those who struggled to find a doctor or make an appointment. Online was/is the best option to apply for a permit and thus Handicapped Parking was started.
